Lewis Sternberg, LC, has over 5 decades of experience as an electrical engineer, distributor, contractor, and consultant. Lew is involved in lighting design and has been an educator of lighting techniques for architects, engineers, distributors, and university students. Lewis has served as President of the IESNA and holds the LC Credential. He received his electrical engineering degree from Carnegie Mellon. Lew is a recurrent consultant for Halper Lighting Solutions performing photometric studies and evaluations.

Owner, Designer
Bob Halper obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from the University of Michigan in the early 1980s. Upon moving to Cleveland in 1984, he became heavily involved in the architectural and interior design community, creating and operating the SpecSource Showroom in Beachwood, Ohio, from 1994-2002. Bob has taught lighting design and theory to students from Cuyahoga Community College, Ursuline College and Kent State University. He is lighting certified by the Illuminating Engineering Society, and has been a member of IESNA since 2001. Bob and his wife, Anne, have two grown children and live near the HLS offices in Chagrin Falls, Ohio.

Bob is a designer and fabricator of unique metal fabrications used in commercial, residential and industrial applications. Bob's specialties include: Computer Aided Design, engineering, as well as fabrication techniques and application. He oversees highly-trained experts who deliver top-notch products at competitive prices. Beacon Metal has become HLS' primary supplier of metal work, an essential element for unique light fixtures, envisioned by the design and architect clients of Halper Lighting Solutions.

Senior Program Engineer
Tyra has over 15 years experience working in the Engineering industry, with the last 12 specifically in LED lighting. Tyra graduated from The Ohio State University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Business. After joining HLS in 2018, Tyra has been involved in lighting design and modeling along with product design, program management and readiness. In addition, Tyra works with the team on Marketing and Finance directives.

Director of Business Operations
Anne brings a strong background in sales & program management, marketing & market development. Her BS in marketing from John Carroll University was the beginning of her career as a professional sales manager & representative during the rapid expansion in the pharmaceutical industry & as program manager in the remote medication management market. She is presently filling the roles of Director of Market Development, Sales Management, & Finance for HLS.
doug cohen
Design Director
Doug Cohen is a graduate from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Industrial Design and with minors in both Business and Marketing. Doug began his lighting design career interning for HLS during the summers of his college years, and became full time in 2019 upon graduation. Doug takes on responsibilities in social media marketing, sales, design development, and production oversight.

UL Specialist
Layton Lemon has over 25 years of experience in the development, design, and manufacture of custom light fixtures, having worked with several lighting manufacturers over his career. Layton is intimately familiar with the requirements of Underwriter’s Laboratories (UL), having manufactured fixture designs of both custom and production line models. Halper Lighting Solutions is proud to have Layton on staff, and in charge of UL related product development.
